GDPR, AI, IP – my favourite acronyms.

Meet Daria Rutecka, a partner in our technology & digitalisation practice

Daria joined Schoenherr as an associate in 2015. After more than eight years with Schoenherr, she became
a partner in our Warsaw office, advising clients on corporate, commercial, data protection, IP and new
technologies matters.

Who are you and what does a typical work week look like for you?
Hi, I'm Daria.
As a part of our technology & digitalisation team, I get to advise clients on transactions,
IP questions, data protection and anything technology related. This means that some of my days
are filled with a variety of projects – from big mergers and acquisitions to complicated software
agreements. Depending on what is on my desk, one day might be packed with meetings and calls,
while another one is spent writing articles on AI and discussing the latest tech trends with our team.

What is the best thing about your job?
It allows me to dive into topics and issues that I am interested in the most – such as new technologies, AI,
cybersecurity and data protection (to name a few) – and combine them with professional experience, to see
how they come together in practice.

What have been the most important milestones in your professional life so far?
Discovering my niche in technology transactions was definitely a milestone, and the GDPR entering into
force was a professional highlight, since it brought along numerous exciting legal challenges that we had
the opportunity to advise on.

What has been your greatest experience at Schoenherr so far?
Meeting and working with remarkable lawyers from other countries is always a great experience and a
learning opportunity. To work in a law firm that unites lawyers who are not only excellent professionals but,
above all, outstanding personalities, feels very fulfilling and powerful.
