Get to know Rudolf Bicek, attorney at law in our Czech corporate/m&a team

Rudolf joined Schoenherr in 2014 as a paralegal and today he is an attorney at law in the Prague office.
Besides being part of our corporate/m&a practice, he also heads the Czech compliance and white collar
crime team.

Who are you and what does your typical working day look like?
Hi, I'm Rudolf.
I focus on corporate/m&a as well as on white collar crime & compliance, so my days look very different
depending on the matters we are advising on. Generally, I like to spend my mornings having breakfast
with my family. In the office, the morning continues with e-mails and phone calls from clients. I usually
reserve the afternoon for dealing with more complex issues and drafting documents. On a typical evening,
my wife and daughter pick me up and we walk home through Prague.

What challenges does your job come with?
When I started at Schoenherr, the need to learn new things and to quickly study or prepare extensive
documents was challenging. But I managed to grow with this challenge and now that is my comfort zone.
Today, I would say time management and efficient assignment of tasks is a challenge I have to master daily.

What is the best thing about your job?
We advise organisations and people in various industries, and I appreciate that very much. With every matter
we advise on, I get a glimpse into how things work in different sectors and companies. So I have the chance
to learn of how the international bus transport is operated, how the cars are manufactured, but also how new
software is developed and sold without having to work on these things myself. That's really cool!

What was your greatest professional highlight so far?
Probably one of our white collar crime cases. They are extremely fast-paced, complex and interesting.
Of course, I can't get into the details, but sometimes it feels like I'm in the middle of a Sherlock Holmes
detective novel.
