Austria: Schoenherr advises Bradford Airport Logistics LLC on joint venture with Vienna Airport

Schoenherr, as local counsel alongside Sidley Austin Munich, advised Bradford Airport Logistics LLC on the establishment of an equity joint venture (Vienna Airport Logistics GmbH) with the Vienna-listed Flughafen Wien AG (Vienna Airport) for the provision of airport logistics services.

Schoenherr advised on all Austrian legal aspects of the deal, negotiating comprehensive transaction documentation, including the joint venture agreement, service level agreement and intellectual property agreements. The Schoenherr team further covered regulatory filings, procurement law, as well as matters of intellectual property and real estate law. Closing of the transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals.

Starting in 2027 and made possible through the establishment of Vienna Airport Logistics, all flows of goods for Vienna Airport's Terminal 3 Southern Expansion and all passenger areas will be efficiently, securely and sustainably routed through a centralised logistics hub to more than 100 shops and restaurants. Every delivery to the terminals will be conducted via a centralised system, the cornerstone of which will be a 6,000 m2 logistics centre.

Vienna Airport generated total revenue of approximately EUR 1bln in 2024 and is one of the largest employers in Eastern Austria, with a headcount of 7,131 people.
