Schoenherr achieved an important milestone for ImWind and BLOCH3 by attaining a legally binding EIA permit for the "Rustenfeld" wind farm in Lower Austria.
The approval paves the way for the construction of four wind turbines with a total capacity of 26.6 MW. The wind farm will be located in Zistersdorf, a town in the Weinviertel region of Lower Austria.
The firm provided legal advice to ImWind and BLOCH3 throughout the EIA permitting procedure. The project faced significant challenges related to species and habitat protection laws, particularly addressing complex ornithological considerations.
"We are delighted to have supported ImWind and BLOCH3 on the Rustenfeld wind farm," said Christoph Jirak, who has already achieved success in EIA permit procedures for several of ImWind and BLOCH3's projects. "This is another important step for the wind energy sector. We enjoyed working with the projects team and are looking forward to future joint projects."
ImWind is one of the largest producers of renewable energy in Austria, developing and operating wind and photovoltaic parks in Austria, Germany and Italy. It produces an annual output of over 1.2 TWh of clean electricity.
BLOCH3 has been a successful, family-run project developer and operator in the field of renewable energies and regional energy production for more than 25 years. With its wind farms and biogas plants currently in operation, the family group already supplies regional energy to more than 170,000 people.
The Schoenherr team advising ImWind and BLOCH3 on all aspects of environmental law included Christoph Jirak (attorney at law), Christian Schmelz (partner) and Sarah Wolf (attorney at law).
