Schoenherr's IP team received the Austria Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year 2023 award during the annual awards ceremony held by Managing IP (MIP) on 21 June 2023.
As the world's most comprehensive IP law firm awards event, Managing IP annually recognises outstanding firms within several IP practice areas and over 50 jurisdictions. The prestigious distinction is granted to shed light on the most challenging and innovative trademark dispute work from the past year, with nominations based on evaluation of submitted matters, interviews and independent research findings. Besides winning this award, Schoenherr was nominated in three other categories (Trademark Prosecution, Copyright and Patent Disputes), and so was recognised as a leading firm across all areas of IP.
Schoenherr's Vienna IP team frequently represents clients in high-level cases reaching the Austrian Supreme Court and European instances. In 2022, the team was involved in about 15 cases before the Austrian Supreme Court, one of which was even referred to the Court of Justice of the EU.
"This award, alongside the three other nominations, honours our efforts and achievements throughout the entire year," said Schoenherr IP partner Michael Woller, who, together with Birgit Kapeller-Hirsch accepted the award on behalf of the team. "Our team continues to shape Austrian and European IP practice and, at the same time, achieves the best possible outcomes for our clients."
The Austria Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year 2023 award rounds up another successful year for Schoenherr's IP practice. The Vienna team is consistently ranked in the top tier by various legal directories and publications. Working closely with legal specialists from other Schoenherr practice groups and offices across CEE, the IP team advises clients in protecting, marketing, defending and managing intellectual property.
