Schoenherr successfully advised IWP Großhofen GmbH & Co KG – a project company of ImWind – on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) permit for its Großhofen II wind farm. With six new wind turbines and a total capacity of 42 MW in the Gänserndorf district, the project represents another milestone for the expansion of renewable energy in Austria.
The mandate specifically included procedural strategic planning, legal quality assurance of interdisciplinary expert reports, representation in the EIA permit procedure before the Lower Austrian State Government, as well as other public law matters. The environmental impact assessment was completed successfully, and the permit decision is now legally binding.
"Particularly in demanding EIA settings, it is crucial to set the procedurally relevant course correctly at an early stage," explained Schoenherr partner Christoph Jirak. "With the legally binding EIA permit, we were able to take an important step together with ImWind towards the realisation of the Großhofen II wind farm."
ImWind is a wind power pioneer and one of the largest producers of renewable energy in Austria. For 30 years, the company has been developing, constructing and operating wind and photovoltaic parks domestically and abroad, thereby supplying hundreds of thousands of Austrian households with clean electricity.
The Schoenherr advisory team was led by Christoph Jirak (partner), who was supported by Sarah Wolf (attorney at law), Isabel Bruckmoser (associate) and Valentin Dignös (associate).
