Schoenherr advised Raiffeisen Bank International AG in connection with a EUR 31.06m project financing to Energy Financing Team SE Bileca d.o.o. Bileca as the borrower. The funds will be used to develop a 60 MW solar power plant in the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Schoenherr Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina acted as lead counsel to the lender in this matter, while Walder Wyss Ltd and Law Office of Loren Richards acted as local counsels in Switzerland and England, respectively. Schoenherr's services included conducting a legal due diligence, drafting and negotiating the financing term sheet, an Austrian-law-governed facility agreement and local law security documents, as well as general transaction management.
The borrower estimates 103 GWh of energy will be produced in the first year of the power plant's operation, with an annual CO2 reduction of approx. 100,000 t compared to electricity produced in coal-fired power plants. This green energy loan project thus plays a crucial role in increasing the use of renewable energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina while having a minimal impact on the environment.
