CS Employment Talks - Employee redundancy in Czech and Slovak labour law

Our experts will guide you through all the important aspects of terminating employment due to employee redundancy from the perspective of Czech and Slovak labour law during a two-hour session. 

Everything will be discussed with reference to current Czech and Slovak case law, best practices, and recommendations.

Please note that the seminar/webinar will be held in Czech and Slovak.

We will focus particularly on the following:

  • the legal definition of redundancy – how and when redundancy may occur (economic reasons, reorganisation, position elimination);
  • the difference between redundancy and other reasons for termination (e.g. closure of part of the employer's business);
  • protective periods (pregnancy, union members, etc.);
  • employer's obligations (duty to offer alternative positions, notice period, severance pay);
  • selection of the redundant employee – risk of discrimination;
  • communication with trade unions.
