Hungary: Schoenherr advises Julius Meinl Living on acquisition of protected building in Budapest's 6th district

Schoenherr advised Julius Meinl Living on the acquisition of a protected building in Hegedű utca, Budapest. The building will undergo a full refurbishment and will be developed into a luxury hotel, The Julius Budapest.

Schoenherr provided comprehensive legal advice on the acquisition of the property from Longbridge Group, a developer primarily active in the hospitality sector. Following extensive construction, the hotel is set to open its doors in early 2029. Julius Meinl Living expects the site to have a gross area of 9,910 m², comprising 118 rooms and apartments with an average size of 34 m² each.

Julius Meinl Living is a leading owner, developer and operator of luxury hotels, active in the CEE region (Prague, Bucharest) as well as in Berlin. With its entry into the Hungarian market, the company intends to set a new standard for luxury hospitality in Budapest. This strategic move reflects the significant growth experienced by the local hospitality sector in recent years.

The Schoenherr team advising on the transaction consisted of Laszlo Krüpl (partner), Viktória Magyar (attorney at law) and Gergő Levente Kasó (associate).

Longbridge Group was supported by Laszlo Szecsenyi (partner) and Andras Homa (attorney at law) from Szécsényi Law Firm.
