Business breakfast | The implications of the CSDDD and FSR for Serbian companies

Schoenherr Belgrade is hosting a business breakfast and workshop on two recent EU legal instruments directed towards non-EU companies – the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR).

The CSDDD, which came into force in July 2024, aims to foster sustainable and responsible corporate behaviour in companies’ operations and across their global value chains, and will impose significant direct and indirect obligations on companies in Serbia.

The FSR, effective since July 2023, addresses market distortions in the EU caused by non-EU subsidies, including by providing their recipients with an unfair advantage in acquiring companies or securing public procurement contracts in the EU, to the detriment of fair competition.

The event will focus on the key considerations for Serbian companies arising from these legal instruments, whether they are part of EU corporate groups or suppliers to such groups. We will explore the target addressees and objectives of these regulations, the direct and indirect obligations they impose and the potential consequences. Additionally, we will discuss enforcement mechanisms and the first case under the FSR by the European Commission, which also has implications for Serbia.

The event will be conducted in English.

An introductory remark will be given by Zoran Tadic, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Serbia.
