The Czech Republic have had an Act on significant market power in the sale of agricultural and food products and its abuse (the 'SMP Act') in effect since 2010. In the light of the Directive (EU) 2019/633 on unfair trading practices in business-to-business relationships in the agricultural and food supply chain (the 'Directive'), the SMP Act has recently seen a large amendment. The Amendment, which became effective 1 January 2023, went beyond a simple harmonisation of the SMP Act with the Directive.
