Austria: Schoenherr advises ImWind on sale of wind and solar park portfolio to Wien Energie

Schoenherr advised ImWind, an Austrian pioneer of wind and solar power, on the sale of two wind farms and one solar park to Wien Energie, one of Austria's leading energy suppliers. The transaction encompasses plants with a total capacity of 130 MW in Lower Austria and Burgenland, producing 280 GWh annually – enough to supply the equivalent of 80,000 households in the region with green electricity. ImWind will retain the technical oversight of the projects, which are set to increase Wien Energie's wind production by over 50 %.

Schoenherr advised ImWind throughout the international bidding process as well as on all legal aspects of the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals.

ImWind is a leading producer of renewable energy in Austria, developing and operating wind and photovoltaic parks in Austria, Germany and Italy. ImWind distributes an annual output of over 1.2 TWh of clean electricity, with the company aiming to more than double its production by 2030 via investments of over EUR 1bln, of which EUR 400m fall into 2024 alone.

Wien Energie is one of Austria's leading energy companies, supplying around two million people and 230,000 commercial and industrial facilities with energy. Wien Energie's output stems from combined heat and power, waste recycling and renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydropower and biomass. Wien Energie's strategy actively aims for climate neutrality by 2040.
