Schoenherr advised the Austrian startup hi.health GmbH and its shareholders on its sale to Pliant GmbH, a German fintech startup. hi.health will continue to operate as an independent brand under Pliant's umbrella.
hi.health offers a digital solution for processing healthcare expenses with private health insurers. Users can upload receipts for medical expenses (e.g. medical treatment and pharmacy invoices) via the app, and hi.health handles the submission process to the insurer – in some cases offering advance payment.
Pliant GmbH is a Berlin-based fintech startup specialising in digital corporate credit cards and smart expense management for businesses. Through its platform, companies can issue physical and virtual credit cards, monitor spending in real time, automate accounting processes and seamlessly integrate with ERP and accounting systems. Pliant aims to make corporate finances more efficient and transparent, especially for growth-oriented businesses and digital teams.
The Schoenherr team advising on the transaction was led by Thomas Kulnigg (partner) and Dominik Tyrybon (attorney at law), and further included Maximilian Czernin (associate). The team had previously advised hi.health GmbH, inter alia on financing rounds.
Pliant GmbH was advised by Studio Legal Rechtsanwälte (Germany), as well as DORDA Rechtsanwälte (Austria).
