Schoenherr si Asociatii was honoured by Romania's leading financial journal Ziarul Financiar with three awards during the eight edition of the Business Lawyers' Gala organised by the newspaper on 27 September in Bucharest.
These awards highlight Schoenherr's outstanding transactional record in 2016.
"It is an honour to be recognised by Ziarul Financiar for the exceptional work that our team carried out in the last year," stated Schoenherr Romania managing partner Sebastian Gutiu. "These awards are a confirmation of our expert support on some of the largest and most complex transactions in Romania, and a testament to our lawyers' excellence in their fields," concluded Gutiu.
The prestigious Romanian publication acknowledged Schoenherr's advisory work in the financial services, medical services, and FMCG sectors. Ziarul Financiar granted ten awards to the legal advisors that supported the largest transactions in 2016 from the following industries: financial services, medical services, FMCG, real estate, retail, energy, IT&C/media/online, auto, agribusiness, and industry.
The awardsZiarul Financiar recognised Schoenherr's advisory to the largest bank in Romania, Banca Comerciala Romana, on the sale of a retail non-performing loans portfolio with a face value of EUR 300m to B2Holding and the EOS Group. Led by banking & finance partner Matei Florea, this transaction is the largest sale of a retail NPL portfolio in Romania to date, for which Schoenherr received the "The largest transaction in the financial services market" award.
For "The largest transaction in the medical services market" prize Schoenherr was awarded for assisting MedLife – the largest private healthcare operator in Romania – on its listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The Schoenherr team advising MedLife was headed by capital markets partner Narcisa Oprea in what is the largest listing of a private company in the history of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
The accolade for "The largest transaction in the FMCG sector" was awarded to Schoenherr for its advisory work to the shareholders of the Romanian dairy companies Albalact and Covalact on the sale of the two enterprises to the French-based diary group Lactalis. Both transactions were steered by Schoenherr corporate M&A partner Madalina Neagu.
