Schoenherr advises EVO Payments on strategic payments partnership with MONETA Money Bank

Schoenherr's financial services team in Prague advised EVO Payments International ("EVO") on the creation of a long-term strategic alliance with MONETA Money Bank ("MONETA") for payment acceptance services to the bank's retail customers.

EVO announced at the end of April that it will provide MONETA's retail customers with a wide range of secure payment processing services, innovations in digital transactions, and advanced technologies to support the bank's strategic growth objectives in commercial banking.

"Owing to our expertise in the payments services sector, we were mindful of both parties' needs when establishing this strategic alliance," explained Schoenherr corporate m&a partner Vladimír Čížek. "My team and I were thrilled to support EVO in setting-up a lasting partnership in the field of transactional banking services with a leading independent Czech bank," concluded Čížek, who previously advised EVO on the creation of a merchant acquiring alliance with Raiffeisenbank in the Czech Republic.

The team led by Vladimír Čížek provided comprehensive transaction M&A and financial regulatory support to EVO. The local alliance entity will aim to make a wide variety of market-leading card acceptance solutions and processing for alternative payment methods available to MONETA's retail customers.

EVO Payments International is a leading payments service provider of merchant acquiring and processing solutions for retail customers (merchants), financial institutions, government organisations, and multinational corporations located throughout North America and Europe.

MONETA Money Bank, a.s., is a leading independent Czech bank whose shares have been listed and freely traded on the Prime Market of Prague Stock Exchange since 2016. The bank has focused on retail and SME oriented business model with a strong position in the consumer and agriculture segments.

The Schoenherr team advising EVO consisted of Vladimír Čížek (partner, corporate/m&a), Volker Weiss (partner, Brussels, eu & competition), Jitka Kadlčíková (attorney at law, corporate/m&a), Natálie Rosová (attorney at law, banking & finance), Denisa Assefová (attorney at law, ip, it & life sciences), Claudia Bock (attorney at law, eu & competition) and Rudolf Bicek (associate, corporate/m&a).
