Schoenherr commenced its activities in Croatia in 2001. Initially with a strong focus on m&a, the office profited from the thriving economic activity in Croatia at the beginning of the millennium.
Schoenherr, together with independent Croatian lawyers, was involved in most of the headline deals, including privatisations in the insurance and energy industries (gas utilities), private to private transactions in the insurance and banking sectors, and foreign investment in the pharmaceuticals and food trading industries.
Building on this early success, Schoenherr has acted for many of the large real estate investors attracted to Croatia in recent years. In line with market developments, the office has recently experienced a rapid expansion of its banking & finance practice.

Schönherr branch Croatia is a member of Schönherr Rechtsanwälte GmbH. "Schönherr" or "Schoenherr" refers to an international legal practice comprising Schönherr Rechtsanwälte GmbH, its branches and its affiliated businesses. The last are separate legal entities. Whilst most of Schönherr's offices are offices of Schönherr Rechtsanwälte GmbH, in some jurisdictions Schönherr practises local law by cooperating with local independent law firms. Such cooperation might occur on an occasional or a permanent basis. In Croatia, Schönherr has entered into a permanent cooperation in particular with Vlahov Buhin i Šourek d.o.o. ("VBŠ") as well as Mandarić & Einwalter ("M&E"), and such cooperation was notified to and approved by the Croatian bar.
Regarding Croatia, the concept of "office" refers to Schönherr Rechtsanwälte GmbH branch, VBŠ and M&E, whereas "team" refers to shareholders and cooperating lawyers of Schönherr Rechtsanwälte GmbH that advise on legal issues in Croatia as well as shareholders and employed lawyers of VBŠ and M&E.
